Consider location
Australia offers diverse study environments — from vibrant cities to regional centers, beaches, rainforests, and the outback.

English language requirement
Most courses require proof of English proficiency if it’s not your first language.
General academic entry guidance
- ELICOS (English courses): No entry test for General English; exam prep courses require placement test.
- Schools: Varies by school, state, or territory.
- VET: Usually no entrance exams; some require prior subjects or work experience.
- Undergraduate: Australian Year 12 equivalent; some courses have prerequisite subjects.
- Postgraduate: Completed bachelor’s degree; research ability or work experience may be considered.
Foundation courses
One-year bridging programs to meet Year 12 equivalent. Offered by most universities.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Get credit for previous study or work experience. Check with providers for RPL options.
Applying directly
After selecting your course:
- Apply via the provider’s website or request a form
- Processing takes a few weeks (longer for postgraduate)
- Successful applicants receive a Letter of Offer and acceptance form
